Panorama

4 11 2015

It has been rainy and cloudy all week. Went out yesterday and took some pics at the top of the dam that release water into this river – the Neuse River. It started to rain so I left. Went back today and took pictures at the bottom of the dam near the sluiceway. This picture was taken under the Old Falls of Neuse Road. Used PSE to merge the images and used Lightroom to select just the orange colors. Use Perfect Effects to add a light grunge effect and a thin border. You can see other panoramas on my flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/needlepointernc/

Selected for critique: I would have never thought – but wow. This is the most beautiful underside of a concrete bridge I have ever seen. I also know that the original image was not nearly as wonderful prior this excellent editing. This is a case of how editing really makes magic happen. It is selective color, but it just make this other-worldly or post apocalyptic. To the group, don’t shy away from trying things, but also know when they work and when they don’t. Here, the idea to go this route worked. If it doesn’t work, or just looks like a trick, simply start again. This is well seen, well framed, well conceived, and well executed.

This is such an interesting picture. Great shot! My eyes follow the beams from the top down to the bottom. Great eye candy!

I was on the greenway that goes under the road. It was a little scary every time a car or truck went across the bridge.

Really imaginative place to create the panorama. Love how the top of the dam fans out at us.
