Power of One

28 08 2015

I thought of brown eggs and white eggs for these weeks lesson challenge – Power of One. I also wanted to add some Zentangle to the white egg. It is hard to draw straight lines on an egg! There is a Facebook pae called Random Acts of Zentangle (RAZ). People leave Zentangle tiles in random places. I thought I could add some Zentangle to an egg and mix it in with some eggs. Not sure the store would like that so I did it for myself.

I spent some time on the front porch taking photos of the eggs.

Found Alphabet

21 08 2015

Once you start looking for letters of the alphabet in your surroundings, you won’t be able to stop! I found my F today while I was on my way to drop off my photo entries at the JC Raulston Arboretum. Luckily it was breezy today!

I was driving to the JC Raulston Arboretum to drop off two of my flower photos for their juried photo show. I will know tomorrow if they were accepted. I drove by a State Police service office building and saw the two flags flying. Luckily there was a breeze today. F is for flag and for Flanagan. I removed some of the blue and dodged and burned the flags for more contrast. I am really liking the quality of my photos with my new Canon EOS T6i. I took some videos last night too and they are really nice quality too.

And r is for ruth… this is the top of one of the street lights on our street.

Old Paint

16 08 2015

We have lots of old paint cans in the garage. Traded in most of my old cameras and upgraded my Canon EOS t5i to the t6i. The new camera has built in WiFi. I can use my iPhone to control the camera. I guess I could sit in the AC and take pictures outside! You can tell the colors the rooms of our house are painted by looking at the paint cans in the garage. This red color is in the bonus room, which is my sewing, craft, computer, and TV room.

Radial Symmetry

4 08 2015

This week’s lesson is about radial symmetry. I saw a piece on CBS Sunday Morning about an art project by photographer Roger Rowley, of Moscow, Idaho, as he tried creative ways he get his kids to eat fruit for breakfast. You can see his photos on his Fruit Plate site.

I arranged a bowl of fruit and used a Twirl action in PSE on a close-up of the bowl. The bowl contained blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. I got the action from someone on the Elements Village FB page. Elements Village used to be a forum on a server but it was shut down. The group migrated to FB. It is the group that I did several 365 Photo Challenges. The group was formed for people using Photoshop Elements. To see the original image go to: https://needlepointernc.wordpress.com/ and you can see some of the flower photos I took a few weeks ago transformed with the same action.

I couldn’t find my spare battery last week, so I ordered a new one. Last week I took my tripod on my trip to the Raleigh City Cemetery. It fell on the sidewalk (no camera on it) and I guess the quick release lever broke. I didn’t end up using my tripod so I didn’t notice that the quick release plate had fallen off. I thought it might be in the pocket on my rollator that I use when walking distances. I reached into the pocket and found my missing battery, but no quick release plate. So, now I have plenty of batteries but no tripod this week. So, I did the best I could hand-held taking this photo out the front window of my house. Used Lightroom to remove all the color but the red. I should have dusted before I took the photo 🙂 and maybe I should wash the window too.
