Day 179 Theme #346 Vacation

Washington, DC Vacation, originally uploaded by needlepointernc.

We took a VACATION to Washington, DC this summer. It was also so I could attend the International Jewish Genealogy Conference. We had a great time and were there just before the earthquake and the hurricane!

We took the Duck Tour and it was a great way to see the highlights of DC. I took some of these pictures from the Duck Mobile. The White House and Treasury pictures were taken from our walk to the White House. You cannot drive by the White House anymore.

Great story board! Duck tours, very cool. Bus tours of any kind are the best way to see the District. Did you have that feeling of awe and wonder being there?
Glad you missed the earthquake and hurricane.

Well we missed the earthquake and hurricane in DC, but we felt the earthquake pretty good in Raleigh, NC. And we got a lot of rain and wind today from Irene…

Very nice compilation of images. What kind of water did you drive through that you needed the duck?

We drove into the Potomac River for the water part of the tour. The Duck Tours do land and then water. We have done the Boston Tour and they go into the Charles. The Daytona tour goes into the Intercoastal Waterway. The Memphis tour goes into a dinky outlet of the Mississippi so not so great. The Branson tour goes into a big lake.

Terrific method of showing your Vacation phoyos, I would have only needed to do 20 of them for my Tasmania trip. My favourite is the Duck pictured first!

Nice montage. I don’t know about the Duct Tour – next time I’m down there I’ll check it out.
