A Is For Asheville

A Is For Asheville, originally uploaded by needlepointernc.

Kevin and I went to Asheville, NC last week to see The Guthrie Family in concert at the Diane Wortham Theater. We stayed at Willow Winds, which was very nice but it was too cold and snowy to enjoy the outdoors. We ate in some really good restaurants and saw a lot of Art. Got to see a high school friend on the way home.

The Thomas Wolfe House was interesting. It is really the boarding house that his Mother owned and where he lived. He died at age 38. His famous books include Look Homeward Angel and You Can’t Go Home Again. Don’t think I have read any of his books.

I am not sure who the Guthrie Family are, only Guthries I know of are Woody, and one of his son’s Arlo! So did you eat at Alice’s Restaraunt?

It was Arlo Guthrie and his 3 daughters, Son, grandchildren singing a lot of Woody’s stuff. We didn’t eat at Alice’s cause that is in Massachusetts (well, the Church is still there and is Arlo’s Foundation’s place) and we were in NC. But we ate in some good places.
