Lensbaby Book and Focusing Info

14 01 2011

I just bought a new book by Corey Hiltz called “Lensbaby”. Well worth the money. It talks about the different Lensbaby lenses and all of the accessories. I have the Muse and some of the cutouts. I am thinking about getting the pinhole optic and maybe the plastic lens. I have the double glass, which gives you a sharper picture.

It also reminded me that I should check the diopter setting on the camera. I have noticed that some of photos are not focused even with my autofocus lens. I suspect the diopter is off. I am also wearing glasses now (I am farsighted) and have problems with having to wear my glasses and take photos. I guess there is also a Dioptric Lens Adjustment thing you can buy. Does anyone use one?

I also realized that I should read my camera manual and the book I bought about the 50D again.

The waiter at Mimi’s last week noticed me taking pics in the restaurant. He works at Best Buy also. I said I was thinking of getting the 60D, which has the HD video built in. He said not to go for that one and get the 7D. A much better camera. So, if I can sell my 50D and my other canon, then maybe I will upgrade. I don’t have too, but I hate carrying around 2 cameras.

Boston Public Library Reading Room

This is my view of the Boston Public Library Reading Room. I love the doors and thought that this view was cool. Check out Karen’s view of the room!

A Change of Scenery

28 08 2009

I had to get out of the house today and the yard for taking pictures. So, I drove downtown and took some pictures there and around town. So, no flowers and butterflies for awhile I hope. It was just windy a few minutes ago but it didn’t rain. It is humid enough though. We need some rain from Tropical Storm Danny, but they just said he is weakening and the cold front is stronger. It is supposed to be 72 here on Monday BRRR.

Well, tomorrow AM we will watch Ted Kennedy’s Funeral on TV. It starts at 10:00 AM Eastern. RIP.

Here is my second shot at the Warning theme. Everytime I post a theme I always find one I like better. This one is a preview of some others to come.

Hoover Dam From the Bus, originally uploaded by needlepointernc.

I took this picture of the Hoover Dam from the tour bus that I took out there from Las Vegas. It was quite amazing! And more amazing to realize what an engineering feat it was at the time.

Kodachrome…

The last roll of Kodachrome will be processed soon. I am still scanning my negatives. I will still keep them for now, but am feeling nostalgic! But, I do love my DSLR!

Fish Suicide!

15 06 2009

Well, our largest Goldfish was found barely clinging to life when we went out to feed them dinner. He was nasty at dinner time, so maybe he was pushed out by the next biggest fish :-) but sometimes they just jump! Oh well, he was getting too big for the pond. DH buried him in the garden!

The Color Purple

The Color Purple, originally uploaded by needlepointernc.

We saw the Color Purple at the DPAC theater in Durham yesterday. It was excellent. One of the best plays that I have seen. We had front row center seats too that also were the best. The orchestra was great (the Viola player is Lisa who teaches free-form knitting at Yarn Birds in Raleigh). I cried through most of the second act! Good tears. The talent is just awesome. Saw that Fantasia will be in the show again this summer in Washington, DC. I would go to see it if you live near DC.

You cannot go past a field of purple flowers without stopping to appreciate the glory of the flower no matter how you think that purple flower got here. These are my Foxgloves that are in my wild flower patch. I love them!

Not great video, but this is my favorite E Street Band Song…

The Boss

7 05 2009

So, last weekend we went to Greensboro to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. We had seats at the opposite end of the stage but they have big screen TVs now so we could watch those. But just being in the building was enough! I don’t know why I had never gone to one of his concerts over the years but I just never did. I was determined to finally get to one.

They played non-stop for 3 hours. Jay Weinberg, son of Max played half the show. He is 18 and is just amazing. Patty was not at our show. She fell off a horse and is not back playing at all shows. I liked the woman who played in her place (truthfully, I am not a Patty fan :-) so I didn’t miss her that much). Nils Lofgren played with them, so the DH was in heaven. You can see the playlists and pictures at www.backstreets.com

Unknown Wedding Couple

I was just testing posting pictures from Shutterfly to here and it does work. I don’t know who this couple is. The picture was in my Grandmother’s picture album that my Aunt has. She doesn’t know who it is. It was taken in the old country. The back does have writing that is in Yiddish or Hebrew and I am looking for someone who can translate. There is a stamp also that is hard to read. I have a share site on Shutterfly with some of my 2nd cousins. We are sharing pictures and trying to fill in the family tree. I think this may be my father’s father’s sister and her husband.
