We had brunch in the new NC Museum of Art today and then walked around the new galleries. A collection of Rodin sculptures has been donated to the museum. Some are inside and some are in a beautiful outdoor garden. The new galleries have natural light sources in the ceilings that protect them from the sun. It is a beautiful museum.

Spring has sprung here in Raleigh. The Dogwoods are in bloom and we have one azalea already blooming. The tulips are open and the hellebores are blooming really late this year. It was a cold winter, so they didn’t bloom until March this year.

A Is For Asheville, originally uploaded by needlepointernc.

Kevin and I went to Asheville, NC last week to see The Guthrie Family in concert at the Diane Wortham Theater. We stayed at Willow Winds, which was very nice but it was too cold and snowy to enjoy the outdoors. We ate in some really good restaurants and saw a lot of Art. Got to see a high school friend on the way home.

The Thomas Wolfe House was interesting. It is really the boarding house that his Mother owned and where he lived. He died at age 38. His famous books include Look Homeward Angel and You Can’t Go Home Again. Don’t think I have read any of his books.

We went to the flea market at the State Fairgrounds when our friends were here visiting from Massachusetts. The lampshades with Jesus on them rotate and are also lights. Santa Claus is also a light.

Coco was having fun checking out all the other dogs who were hanging out at the Fairgrounds.

Signs are everywhere. The South of the Border Signs are famous as you travel south on I-95 heading toward South Carolina.

North Carolina Water Towers, originally uploaded by needlepointernc.

I started taking pictures of water towers when we moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1998. There are not many water towers in New England, so they were a novelty for me. I like the novelty ones the best. Here are some of the North Carolina Water Towers I have taken pictures of in the last few weeks.

This one is for Tammy…
